SIOUX CITY Finishing with 340 all purpose yards and three touchdowns is not a bad way to start a season.

West Sioux senior running back Jake Lynott had that in the first half as the Falcons defeated Unity Christian 54 14 in the CNOS Classic at Elwood Olsen Stadium here Saturday.

“Our offensive line did a great job controlling their blocks Josh Harris Jersey,” said West Sioux head coach Ryan Schwiesow. “If you give Jake a seam he’s going to exploit it. He’s faster than most.”

Lynott, who was named first team all state as a utility player last season, ran for 155 yards and two touchdowns while also catching three passes for 132 yards and another score. He also returned two punts for 53 yards before sitting in the second half.

Lynott scored on runs of 16 and 75 yards while his reception for 68 yards took him to the end zone.

“Jake is Jake,” said Schwiesow. “There’s no doubt about it. You have to game plan for Jake, but if you spend too much time on him we have some other weapons that can do it.”

Schwiesow wasn’t wrong.

Hunter Dekkers completed 12 of 19 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns while adding another 41 yards rushing and one score.

“I thought Hunter Dekkers was fantastic,” said Schwiesow. “He ran the ball, he threw the ball. For a sophomore, he played way above his years.”

Chase Koopmans caught seven passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns while adding another 24 yards rushing on short yardage situations.

“Jake gets a ton of credit https://www.falconsatljersey.com/josh-keyes-jersey-c-52.html, but if you leave Chase Koopmans open on the outside or Zach Hulshof and some of those other guys, you’re kind of picking your poison,” said Schwiesow.

West Sioux 1 0 led 21 0 though one quarter and 48 0 at halftime.

“It got out of hand early and we kept playing and kept playing,” said Schwiesow. “I was glad to see there was no let up.”

Unity Christian 0 1 scored twice in the fourth quarter with a running clock. Carter Schiebout scored on a 7 yard run and Ryan Fedders caught a 77 yard pass from Brandon Visser.

Schiebout ran for 72 yards while Visser completed 9 of 20 passes for 148 yards.

West Sioux finished with 604 yards of total offense 274 rushing and 330 passing and averaged 10.8 yards per play. Defensively, the Falcons held Unity Christian to 199 yards of offense https://www.falconsatljersey.com/alex-mack-jersey-c-51.html, with most of it coming in the second half.

“I thought our first team defense played unbelievably https://www.falconsatljersey.com/brooks-reed-jersey-c-50.html,” said Schwiesow. “We were rallying to the football.”

West Sioux plays at Hartley Melvin Sanborn 1 0 next week while Unity Christian hosts Sioux Center 1 0 .
